When Someone Dies
When someone dies
When the death of a relative or friend occurs, it can be a very emotional and confusing time. The following pages explain the process of what happens when someone dies, what you may need to do, and the role we play as funeral directors. This information is designed to help your understanding, and reassure you that we are here to help you every step of the way.
Timing
There is a common misunderstanding that a funeral must take place within three days of the death. This is not so and you can take as long as you wish or as much time as you need.
Contact Family
If you are on your own one of your first phone calls should be to a family member or close friend who can be of immediate support. They may be able to come and be with you or contact other family members for you. Their assistance will take some of the immediate pressure off you.
